Âé¶¹´«Ã½ President Jon Godfread Talks Consumer Protection, AI, and Disaster Preparedness in Scripps News Interview 

On Monday morning, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ President and North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Jon Godfread joined Emmy-nominated Scripps News journalist Holly Firfer for a live broadcast interview focused on issues facing insurance consumers and the marketplace.  

President Godfread appeared on the segment during the #Âé¶¹´«Ã½SummerMeeting in Minneapolis, MN, and addressed key issues, including the influx of natural disasters and state insurance regulators’ primary role in protecting consumers. 

The 2025 Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Summer National Meeting is a cornerstone event that brings together state insurance regulators, industry leaders, and consumer advocates. It features open hybrid sessions, strategic briefings, and collaborative forums designed to strengthen regulatory coordination, spotlight consumer protection, and address emerging issues in the insurance marketplace.

As part of our state-based system of insurance regulation in the United States, the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ (Âé¶¹´«Ã½) provides expertise, data, and analysis for insurance commissioners to effectively regulate the industry and protect consumers. The U.S. standard-setting organization is governed by the chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. Through the Âé¶¹´«Ã½, state insurance regulators establish standards and best practices, conduct peer reviews, and coordinate regulatory oversight. Âé¶¹´«Ã½ staff supports these efforts and represents the collective views of state regulators domestically and internationally.
