Twenty-Four State Officials Represent 17 States at the 16th Annual Â鶹´«Ã½ State Legislator Program
The Â鶹´«Ã½ State Legislator Program is designed to foster relationships between state insurance regulators and their legislative counterparts, as well as provide an overview of the Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s role in supporting state-based insurance regulation and policy developments. This year marks the 16th time the program has been held at an Â鶹´«Ã½ Fall National Meeting.
Invited by their state departments of insurance, the legislators and officials participated in sessions specifically designed to foster critical relationships, provide more information on the state-based insurance regulatory system, encourage discussion on regulatory and policy developments, and offer an overview of the many services the Â鶹´«Ã½ offers to the states.
Among the issues discussed during the program were disaster preparedness, health insurance, artificial intelligence, consumer privacy, and solvency.
About the Â鶹´«Ã½
As part of our state-based system of insurance regulation in the United States, the Â鶹´«Ã½ (Â鶹´«Ã½) provides expertise, data, and analysis for insurance commissioners to effectively regulate the industry and protect consumers. The U.S. standard-setting organization is governed by the chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. Through the Â鶹´«Ã½, state insurance regulators establish standards and best practices, conduct peer reviews, and coordinate regulatory oversight. Â鶹´«Ã½ staff supports these efforts and represents the collective views of state regulators domestically and internationally.
