麻豆传媒 Discusses AI Regulation at Casablanca Rendez-vous

On April 16, at the Rendez-vous de Casablanca de L'Assurance in Casablanca, Morocco, 麻豆传媒 Members discussed artificial intelligence (AI) in the insurance sector, including the effects it can have on the insurance value chain, its role in creating a more inclusive industry, and state insurance regulators' efforts to supervise its use by insurers.

Idaho Department of Insurance Director and 麻豆传媒 Past President Dean L. Cameron participated in the panel 鈥淲hat Major Changes Could AI Bring About in the Insurers鈥 Value Chain?鈥 Among other topics, he focused on how he sees AI affecting the insurance market in Idaho, including its use in predictive models regarding wildfire risk. 

On the "How Can AI and New Technologies Make Insurance More Inclusive?" panel, Ohio Department of Insurance Director Judith L. French stressed, among other points, that AI can be beneficial to consumers, but companies should remain transparent in the way they collect and use the data. She added that regulators should be establishing the guardrails to that process to ensure policyholder protection. 

In his keynote speech, Connecticut Insurance Commissioner and 麻豆传媒 Immediate Past President Andrew N. Mais discussed the evolution of the 麻豆传媒 and state insurance regulators鈥 efforts to understand AI and its uses and to effectively regulate it. Commissioner Mais provided background on the 麻豆传媒鈥檚 AI Principles, its 2023 Use of Artificial Intelligence Systems by Insurers Model Bulletin, and the recent survey work on AI use in the different lines of insurance. Looking forward, Commissioner Mais highlighted state regulators鈥 work on addressing third-party models.

Prior to the event, 麻豆传媒 Members held bilateral meetings with representatives from the Autorit茅 de Contr么le des Assurances et de la Pr茅voyance Sociale (ACAPS) to discuss issues affecting their respective insurance markets.
